“We are grateful for this very generous gift from Middlesex Savings Bank and for the recognition of the value WEF provides to the community,” said Susan Ryan, co-President of WEF. “The donation comes at an opportune time, as we are at the beginning of WEF’s 2018 grant review process. We look forward to a thoughtful assessment of the opportunities that this gift presents, and to announcing the actual allocation of this very generous gift at the conclusion of the process later this year. This gift will allow WEF to continue to pilot and fund key programs in the Wellesley Public Schools.”

The mission of the Wellesley Education Foundation is to advance innovation and excellence in the public schools. Through events such as the annual WEF Spelling Bee and the STEM Expo, and charitable giving programs like Red Apple teacher recognitions, year after year, WEF harnesses the generosity of the greater Wellesley community to drive student curiosity and teacher creativity, fostering a genuine love of learning for all.

For over 30 years, WEF has underwritten grants to educators that further innovation and excellence in our schools. With the loyal support of our donors and volunteers, nearly $2M has been allotted to sponsor programs and initiatives that inspire the love of learning in the Wellesley Public Schools in the past 10 years.

“Middlesex Savings Bank has great respect for the education foundations in our community,” said Michael McAuliffe, President and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank. “They work hard to support projects and programs that foster learning and creativity. We hope these donations will make their jobs easier this year and are excited to see their existing academic programs flourish or new ones come to life.”
