Spelling Bee - How to Participate
To participate, each team of three adults pays a tax-deductible fee of $450. In addition, Wellesley College and Babson College generously match each team's entry fee with a $75 donation. Many teams creatively fund the entry fee and sponsorships are available. For example, college alums might collect donations from fellow alums. A neighborhood team might solicit support from neighbors. Garden or bookclubs might collect donations from members. New teams are always welcome. Spaces fill up quickly, so reserve your spot early.
Enter a Team:Please register online now. All team members and information must be received by October 19, 2012 to be printed in the program booklet. Your tax-deductible entry fee of $450 can be made on-line or a check payable to "WEF" can be mailed to: Wellesley Education Foundation, P.O. Box 812321, Wellesley, MA 02482. Night of the Bee:
In early November, approximately 50 teams gather at 7pm to compete in the Wellesley Spelling Bee. Four local celebrities judge & officiate the competition. The Wellesley cable station records the event and broadcasts it several times. A printed program at the Spelling Bee as well as ads in the Wellesley Townsman acknowledges the teams, sponsors and donors. Click on the program from 2011 for more information.
